The interface is similar to NVivo 7 and there are many new NVivo 8 features. You will now be able to work with audio and video files. If you are already using QSR software, upgrading to NVivo 8 is straightforward. Those using the most recent versions of QSR software – NVivo 7, NVivo 2 or N6 – will simply need to pay a special upgrade price to own NVivo 7. Upgrade pricing is exclusive to existing QSR software users, and it represents a significant saving over the full price of the software.

If you are already using QSR software products NVivo 7, NVivo 2 or N6 (NUD*IST 6) and you have a current software maintenance plan, then you may qualify for a free upgrade to NVivo 8. To be eligible, your software maintenance plan must still be current when NVivo 8 is released - which means that if your annual plan comes up for renewal before this time, you’ll need to pay your fee on time to qualify.

If you’re already using NVivo 7, NVivo 2 or N6 and you do not currently have a software maintenance plan, you had until 30 September 2007 to purchase one. Any software maintenance plans purchased for these products by this date will be eligible for a free upgrade to NVivo 8.

NVivo 8 System Requirements
NVivo 8 allows you to open and work with projects from previous versions of QSR software:
NVivo 7, NVivo 2, NVivo 1, N6 (NUD*IST 6), N5 (NUD*IST 5) and N4 (NUD*IST 4).

- 512MB RAM (1GB RAM or more recommended)
- 1024 x 768 screen resolution (1280 x 1024 screen resolution recommended)
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP4 (Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or later – including Microsoft Windows Vista – recommended)
- Approximately 700MB of available hard-disk space (1GB recommended)
